On the morning of November 18th, 2024, David passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family.
His fight
After being diagnosed with cancer in 2021, he fought bravely for nearly four years, defying the initial prognosis, which predicted he would only have three months to live.
Throughout this time, he underwent aggressive treatment, determined to keep going. Thanks to this he managed to push the cancer into remission for a while, allowing him to see his four grandchildren grow up and be an active part of family life—far beyond what was expected.
However, after a routine follow-up scan, it was discovered that the cancer had spread. Once again, he began aggressive treatment to keep the cancer at bay, a battle he managed for some time until his body grew too weak to continue.
Despite this, Dad held on against the cancer for nearly three more months, until a second infection led to his second hospitalisation, eventually resulting in his short time at St. Elizabeth's Hospice, where the care for him and support for his family they will never forget.
He is survived by his family, that he shared with Julia - his three sons, Edward, Michael and Harry and his four grandchildren Ava, Logan, Rosalie and Eleanor and his dog Lillie.
We invite you to share any stories you have of him here.
While david loved his flowers should you wish to the family asked for donations instead to be made to St. Elizabeth’s Hospice, who cared for him in his final days, which can be made here in his memory.
